Summer is full of sunshine, swimming, and outdoor adventures, but have you ever wondered what happens to your curls after a day in the water?

This week, young Hair Detectives will solve an important mystery:

Why do curls sometimes feel different after swimming?

Before heading into the water, examine your hair.

Ask:

• How does it feel?

• Is it soft or dry?

• Is it easy to comb through?

• Does it look shiny?

• Does it feel moisturized?

Before swimming, try one or more ways to help protect your curls.

You can:

• Wear a protective style

• Add moisture before swimming

• Use conditioner or a leave-in product

• Wet your hair with clean water before getting in the pool

• Wear a swim cap

Write down what you tried.

Now it’s time for summer fun.

While you swim, your curls are gathering clues.

After swimming, observe your hair again.

Ask:

🔍 Does it feel drier?

🔍 Is it more tangled?

🔍 Does it need more moisture?

🔍 Did your pre-swim routine help?

🔍 What products or steps helped it stay healthy?

After swimming, help your curls bounce back.

Try:

• Rinsing or washing your hair after swimming

• Using a moisturizing conditioner

• Gently detangling while conditioned

• Deep conditioning if your curls feel extra dry

Compare your before and after observations.

What worked best?

What would you try differently next time?

The mystery of the Dry Summer Curl is about learning how to observe, test, and care for your curls while having fun.

Happy investigating, Hair Detectives!
