Connect After the School Day

School days are full of learning, friendships, challenges, and exciting moments—but children don't always share those experiences right away.

At ShampooTime, we believe hair time creates a natural opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy meaningful conversations without pressure. This week's BondTime: School Series includes simple games, questions, and activities designed to help your family laugh, connect, and end the week feeling a little closer.

Find the perfect age-based activity for your child below!

Copy Me!

Take turns copying each other's silly actions.

Try:

  • Make a funny face.
  • Blink your eyes.
  • Wiggle your shoulders.
  • Pat your head.
  • Touch your nose.
  • Give a big smile.
  • Pretend to yawn.
  • Wave hello.

Then let your child lead while you copy them.

Animal Sounds

Take turns making animal sounds and guessing the animal.

Try:

  • Dog
  • Cow
  • Duck
  • Elephant
  • Lion
  • Monkey
  • Sheep

Let your little one choose an animal for you to guess too!

Little Moments

Ask:

  • What makes you happy?
  • Who do you like to play with?
  • What's your favorite thing to do?
  • What makes you laugh?

Finish the Sentence

Take turns finishing these:

  • If I could invent anything...
  • The best playground ever would have...
  • If I had a pet dinosaur...
  • If I could build anything...
  • If I could eat one food forever...

There are no wrong answers!

Mystery Object

Choose an object nearby.

Give three clues.

Example:

"I'm thinking of something..."

  • "...that we use every day."
  • "...that helps us brush our hair."
  • "...it has bristles."

Can your child guess it?

Now let them choose an object for you.

Let's Talk

Ask:

  • Who made you laugh this week?
  • What's something kind someone did for you?
  • What's something kind you did for someone else?
  • Is there anything you wish had gone differently this week?
  • What's something you're excited about next week?

Build the Playlist

Take turns answering:

  • What's one song that always puts you in a good mood?
  • What's one song that helps you relax?
  • What's one song you think everyone should hear?
  • What's a song that reminds you of a happy memory?

One Minute Challenge

Set a timer for one minute.

How many can you name?

  • School supplies
  • Animals
  • Ice cream flavors
  • Movies
  • Countries
  • Sports

Take turns choosing the category.

Check-In Time

Ask:

  • What's something you're proud of this week?
  • Was anything harder than you expected?
  • Who encouraged you this week?
  • How can I support you this week?
  • What's something you're looking forward to?

Before everyone leaves the washday area, have each family member share:

  • One thing that made them smile.
  • One thing they learned recently.
  • One thing they're looking forward to.

Finish with a family high-five or group hug.
