Take a break from the screens.
Connect one conversation at a time.

At ShampooTime, we believe washday is about more than clean hair—it's an opportunity to slow down, unplug, and spend intentional time together.

BondTime was created to help families turn ShampooTime wash days into meaningful moments through simple conversations, games, and activities that encourage connection. While these activities are perfect for washday, they can be enjoyed anytime your family wants to spend quality time together.

Try these exercises with your little one!

Say:

  • "What color is your backpack?"
  • "Can you show me your biggest smile for school?"
  • "Who do you think you'll meet at school?"
  • "Can you wave hello like you're meeting a new friend?"
  • "What do you think you'll do at school today?"

Say:

  • "Can you find something red?"
  • "Can you find something shaped like a circle?"
  • "Can you point to something you wear to school?"
  • "Can you find something that starts with the same letter as your name?"

Say:

  • "Let's count while we rinse—ready?"
  • "Can we count your fingers?"
  • "Can we count your toes?"
  • "How many hugs should we have before school?"

Explore creativity with these activities your kids will love!

Ask:

  • Would you rather have art class every day or recess twice a day?
  • Would you rather read one really big book or ten little books?
  • Would you rather bring your lunch or eat in the cafeteria?
  • Would you rather sit by your best friend or make a new friend?
  • Would you rather have a classroom pet or a class garden?
  • Would you rather have music class or P.E. every day?

Start and guide your child through each part:

"Imagine it's your first day of school..."

  • Who is your teacher?
  • Who sits next to you?
  • What's the funniest thing that happens?
  • What new thing do you learn?
  • Who do you help today?
  • How does your story end?

Pause after each question and let your child guide the story.

Ask:

  • What's one thing you're excited to learn this year?
  • What's something you're really good at?
  • What makes you a good friend?
  • What's one kind thing you can do for someone this week?
  • What's one thing you'd like to get better at?
  • How can I help you have a great school year?

Get more connected with these conversation starters!

Ask:

  • What's one thing you're excited about this year?
  • Is there anything you're nervous about?
  • What's one goal you'd like to accomplish?
  • What's one thing you'd like people to remember about you this school year?

Ask:

  • Math or reading?
  • Science or art?
  • Early bird or night owl?
  • Backpack or lunchbox?
  • Group projects or working alone?
  • Pencil or pen?
  • Library or computer lab?
  • School bus or car ride?
  • New school supplies or new clothes?
  • Study first or homework later?

Finish these sentences together:

  • This year I want to...
  • I know I can...
  • One thing I'm proud of is...
  • When something feels hard, I will...
  • One way I can be a good friend is...

Before the first day of school, have each family member share:

  • One thing they're excited about.
  • One thing they're hoping to learn.
  • One goal for the month.
  • One way they can encourage someone else this week.

No matter what this school year brings, remember that some of the best conversations happen during the simplest moments. Whether you're washing, rinsing, detangling, or styling, BondTime is about creating memories that last long after the hairstyle is finished. Have a wonderful school year!
