The Best Spring Hair Care Routine for Kids

Warmer days are here, and it’s time for some spring cleaning! As the weather warms up and humidity rises again, your strands may become more prone to frizz and kinking throughout the day. Additionally, the more sun exposure we get in the springtime, the more hair can quickly become dry and brittle if you don’t care for it properly. That’s why sticking to a consistent routine tailored to your hair type is essential. Hair care needs and wants change come springtime, so minimize the tears while caring for your tresses with these spring hair care tips.

Clean, Condition, Repeat.

Don’t skip wash day!  Your hair needs the extra love.  Clean the hair and scalp regularly and thoroughly rinse out hair products.  Deep condition on a regular basis and use a leave-in conditioner.

Hydrated Hair is Happy Hair.

The winter season can cause extreme dryness that can sometimes carry over to the spring.  The more sun we get means the hair can become dry and brittle, which can cause breakage.  Drink plenty of water and keep hair moisturized with hydrating products daily.  Give your hair extra moisture-focused products to protect it from dryness and tangling.

Don’t Forget About The Scalp!

The change of seasons can result in scalp issues such as itchiness or dandruff. Increased humidity causes increased cortisol, which causes more oil production from the scalp.  Use a gentle scalp scrub to nourish your scalp, stimulate blood flow, and remove any product build-up from your scalp. Scalp oils and scalp massages are also excellent ways to care for the scalp.  A healthy scalp is essential for healthy hair.

Protect Doesn’t Mean To Neglect.

We love protective styles, but don’t recommend that you neglect your hair and scalp when wearing these styles.  Avoid harsh products and be sure to keep your hair and scalp cleansed, conditioned, and moisturized regularly.  You can also protect your hair by hydrating daily, avoiding hot showers, and wearing hats when in the sun.  Nurture your hair and scalp from the inside out by eating lots of fruits and vegetables that are rich in water and antioxidants.
